Shape + Value = Form
In class you will complete two value charts each with 9 value changes. This is a tool you will be using through out the class. Then we looked at student examples of the project that you will be completing. I also gave definitions of Shape, Value, and Form.
Shape a two dimensional, closed object. They can be geometric or organic shapes.
Value- Lightness or darkness of an object making a shape appear to be a form. It also refers to the lightness or darkness of a color. Value becomes critical in a work which has no colors other than black, white, and a gray scale. For a great
example of value in action, think of a black and white photograph. You can
easily visualize how the infinite variations of gray suggest planes and
textures.
Form- a form is a three-dimensional geometrical figure (i.e.: sphere, cube, cylinder,
cone, etc.) or organic figure.
This is worth 80 points 10 for each drawing that you complete!
