Art 1
Course Description: Art one is the foundation course for advanced art classes. The students will be introduced to the study of drawing, collage, painting, sculpture, and text as art. The main focus of Art I are the Elements and Principles of art and design; the building blocks of how art is created. The student will improve critical thinking and problem solving skills , which will enable them to interpret and respond to the artwork and the visual world around them. Art appreciation, art history and cultures will be explored through a variety of experiences such as group projects, selected readings, slide presentation, guest speakers, field trips, and the Internet. Students will meet the academics standards in art and improve English, science, and math skills through cross-curricular activities.
Educational Experience: The students in Art 1 have the opportunity to learn about different artists, art styles, materials and cultures. Attendance is an imperative and necessary part of the educational experience. In order to pass Art 1 with success the students needs to be on time, awake and prepared to learn.
